This is one of hundreds of videos where I answer the most commonly asked questions related to small business websites. Today’s question is, “Does my small business need a newsletter?” Typically these newsletters are facilitated through your website and I would say yes, it probably does and here’s why.
So many people in this world, especially small business owners, are drunk on the idea of getting “likes”. Facebook likes, Instagram hearts, Google+ pluses, Twitter favorites, stars, whatever it is, and that is not the end game here, folks. It does help with marketing, there are some things you can do to market to those people who have liked your page so it’s not that I discourage you. But nothing is more valuable than when they give you an invitation into their email inbox. This is a high level of trust and so on your website it’s great to have a place where people can put in an email address and then you can start sending them a newsletter.
The content of the newsletter is very important because it’s got to be good content. You can’t just blast them with random things and quotes and articles you didn’t write, and hope they find value in that and you don’t end up in the spam folder. Because if you do end up in the spam folder that’s going to hurt. So start a newsletter, it’s going to help your business.
